WheelieChix-Chic News

Press Release July 2007

London Fashion Week say NO to wheelchair Fashion, but WheelieChix-Chic will be on the Catwalk Sept 19th.

Louisa Summerfield the MD Of WheelieChix-Chic says " We are a unique fashion concept designing clothes that are specifically tailored for wheelchair women all our designs enhance and flatter a woman's body when sitting and yet at the same time are ultra fashionable, elegant and chic. We have thought of every detail to make dressing and undressing a pleasure rather then a chore, easier fastenings, flexible fabrics and great shapes. I took our designs to the British Fashion Council thinking they would jump at the chance for WheelieChix-Chic to exhibit on the catwalk at London Fashion Week, but when our application was unsuccessful I just knew the show still had to go on and so I set about organising our own fashion show, I'm a wheelchair user myself and I'm sick and tired of making do with conventional high street fashion. I'm a big believer in that fashion should be for everyone and not just the standing up body beautiful".

WheelieChix-Chic's Fashion Show is held during London Fashion Week on Sept 19th. Sept 19th 3pm Catwalk show and 7.30pm in part aid of the charity MOTABILITY - Jan Ravens from the BBC comedy 'Dead Ringers' will be there to help host the event tickets are £20.00 (£10 of every ticket sold is donated to Motabilty) please contact Motability or WheelieChix-Chic for tickets.

Louisa Summerfield added "All our models are genuine wheelchair users all are absolutely stunning and will be modelling the decadent purples and berry colours of Autumn/Winter 07 and a smaller collection of Spring/Summer 08, with 5% of the UK population alone being wheelchair users these clothes are long in coming, I see our consumers being global as there just isn't companies out there designing for wheelchair women, there's a huge gap in the market and I feel very confident that WheelieChix-Chic will fill it. I chose my designer very carefully from 100's of designers willing to design for me, I chose Amelia Ursache because her designs are incredibly feminine, elegant and sexy, Amelia won an Elle magazine fashion award in 1998, she's truly a talented and inspirational designer"

Louise Dyson owner of VisABLE People an agency for Disabled Actors and models remarks "At last a fashion label which realises that there are plenty of stylish, smart fashion conscious women who also happen to be wheelchair users! This is way overdue and the models at VisABLE will be pleased to see such fabulous designs with them in mind"

Sasha Hardway, WheeliChix-Chic model and actress in the current film 'Special People' By Justin Edgar which will be premiered this year at the Edinburgh Film festival, commented that

"The clothes are stylish, lightweight and easy to put on. I found the clothes easy to move in and that they stayed in place whilst sitting down. I'm pleased to see a designer who has given consideration to wheelchair users and designed clothes to fulfil our needs with style and elegance".

It is rumoured Sasha will be wearing a WheelieChix-Chic outfit at the next Edinburgh Film Festival so keep an eye out for Sasha looking simply gorgeous!
